Matt Sutherland is the Manager of Digital Optimization at Sweetwater. Not only is Matt an extremely talented and experienced digital marketer, he is also an accomplished musician and audio engineer. In 2020, he enlisted Haverstick Designs to help build his dream recording studio. Never one to take shortcuts or employ a “just get the job done” approach, Matt wanted to leave no stone unturned in the creation of his studio. Careful planning was needed to properly isolate the studio from the rest of the house and the outside world. Once the space was constructed, it was time to tune the room. Implementing a custom ceiling cloud and bass trapping was key to tame problematic room mode and speaker boundary interference issues, and strategically selected and located wall treatment helped keep the space an accurate mixing and recording environment. In the end, Matt accomplished his task of having a professional-grade recording studio in the comfort of his own basement.
